Insomnia and other sleep disorders
Insomnia and other sleep disorders extend to just about the entire population and is also one of the most discussed medical topics in the world. Insomnia is in fact a deficiency of sleep which appears frequently and regularly. People require sleep to be fresh and alert the next day. Some people require just 6 hours of sleep a day to be completely rested whereas others require 7 to 8 hours of sleep every day to be totally relaxed.
Insomnia can manifest itself if you deprive yourself of sleep and over time it becomes a permanent fixture and you will be unable to sleep at all. Other factors that contribute to insomnia and sleeplessness are stress, problems in the digestive tract, pain in the body, caffeine abuse, alcohol abuse, excessive smoking etc.
If you are under stress, then you need to take time out for yourself to unwind and relax. This will help you in getting cured of sleeplessness. If you are under a lot of stress, then make it a point to exercise or listen to soothing and relaxing music. This will ensure that your stress levels dissipate and ensure that you sleep well in the night.
If you have any digestive problems, then you may be suffering from sleeplessness. Acid reflux disease is a big cause for insomnia. People will be unable to sleep and to combat this, proper eating methods should be followed. People should not indulge in spicy or oily food before retiring for the night. They should sleep by resting their heads on high pillows so that the acid reflux does not reach the esophagus. These small things will ensure that the person gets a good night’s sleep.
If you have pain in the body, then you may suffer from sleeplessness. Alleviate the pain and you will get a good restful sleep.
Over indulgence in caffeine is a major cause of sleeplessness. Go slow on the coffee.
Excessive alcohol intake could lead to insomnia. Try to avoid alcohol or use in moderation.
